The First Breakfast

4 Jun

Until about 3 years ago, I despised breakfast. Cereal was just blah and the thought of oatmeal made me gag. I like eggs, but only had time to make them on the weekends–and even then it wasn’t a guarantee. If I got breakfast, it consisted of a slightly burned toaster strudel or a slice of toast on the way out the door. But, I didn’t care. I didn’t like breakfast, anyway.

And then, I got it. Well, it wasn’t exactly like that. I think it was more of a gradual process–reading other blogs and learning about nutrition. I was also in boarding school where much of socializing was done in the dining hall. Like in mean girls, the jocks, the nerds, the music geeks and the theater kids all had to steak out their respective tables and be seen. Even the faculty had their place.

But, no matter how it happened, I’m glad it did. I look forward to and love my breakfast! Oatmeal makes me happy and cereal and yogurt bring me joy.

If the last supper signifies the end, the first breakfast, is only the beginning.
